Ready to See the World Through Rose-Coloured Glasses? Three Tips to a More Positive Life! By Jessica Choronzey, RMT

Do you want to be happier, but don’t know where to start? 

Are you surrounded by negativity? 

Do you find yourself getting worked up over little things? 

It’s time to reclaim your joy.  If you have been toying with the idea of being “more positive” for a while now, here’s your chance.  Fresh year, fresh you. Read on to make the plan. 

Make a Start

Spend an uninterrupted day assessing where you are unhappy.  Write it down.  When our plans are laid out on paper, we have a better chance of creating a solution.  Beside the negative, write out a few positive solutions.  When we not only determine the area we need to correct, but brainstorm solutions, we are far more likely to take action!

Tip: Vision Board your future!  Gather up pictures, quotes or ideas of things you love, and how you want your life to be and place it somewhere you can see it. Every. Single. Day.

Your Tribe

You may not be able to choose you in-laws, your boss or your father.  You do however have the power to choose your friends.  If you are looking to give a love boost to your life, you need to make room for it!  Negative, ill speaking people who are “set in their ways” will not serve you.  Your happiness and joy shouldn’t have to compete with a “friend’s” ego.  It seems harder as adults, but sometime we must cut the ties that are holding us back.  Surround yourself with people who support you, and you’ll quickly notice how much love you receive on a daily basis.  Tip: Check out a new yoga studio, there’s something magical about the intentions people set for their practice!


When we are presented with a situation we don’t see as ideal, it is our reaction to it, which will determine how it affects us.  Reacting too quickly, before you have time to process the situation will often lead us to anger, jealousy or unhappiness.  However, as a person, we have the choice to shift how we perceive something.  In short, we can change our outlook on an event by simply choosing the positive.  Take a moment each time an unpleasant thought or situation arises, and carefully claim the positive aspects of it as those of which you will focus on.  Tip:  Instead of getting angry at traffic, take a deep breath and remember you have a job (or kids, or event etc.) you are driving to!

No, you are not going to wake up one morning and become the most positive person in the world.  Throughout your efforts you will face set backs, like in any journey.  Choose to see even these bumps as positives.  You jumped on the right track the day you chose to be happy.  Sound like hocus-pocus?  Call it what you may, it works.  Open your heart, embrace the joys of life, and make a little recycling bin for the negatives.  You deserve it!
